How Do You Get Gout?
Gout is just one of about 150 different conditions commonly known as arthritis. Gout is a metabolic disorder which causes excruciating pain and swelling.
Gout is a form of arthritis that produces intense bursts of joint pain and affects millions of people , the most susceptible being men .
Gout is less common in women than in men and is characterised by sudden, burning pain and swelling. It most often attacks the largest toe.
Gout tends to be more severe in people who experience symptoms before before they get to be 30 years of age . Gout sufferers who also have diabetes or kidney problems may find that their attacks of gout could be more frequent.
A lot of people have the feeling that the curse of gout is an entirely self-inflicted condition suffered by glutton and over indulgence , just like royals and the aristocracy of old. People now know that this is not the whole story.
Gout is a chronic condition which may be caused by an out of control metabolic disorder, hyperuricemia, leadingto the deposition of mono sodium urate (uric acid) crystals in tissue around the joint. Too much uric acid in the blood is what hyperuricemia means. Uric acid is the by product of purine nucleotide catabolism .
Studies show that almost 1% of the adult population may experience symptoms of gout at some point during their lives. Left untreated, frequent attacks of gout can lead to joint deformity and damage to other organs in some cases.
Is there a cure for gout?
Some would describe gout as an incurable disease, as they would with most diseases associated with arthritis, and this may be true if taken literally, however if the underlying issues contributing to gout are treated, then all symptoms of gout can be irradiated. There are several different approaches to treating gout including medical, dietary, alternative, and lifestyle (or the underlying contributing factors of gout).
Why risk using harmful drug therapies, when gout could indeed be treated using a combination of simple lifestyle changes. Simple changes to food consumption will absolutely help. In fact, using a couple of everyday items you may already have in your kitchen can successfully get rid of uric acid crystal deposits from one’s joints when taken correctly. One can successfully treat one’s own gout, if they find the right alternative approach , even if gout has been passed down through a family gene.
